Very high fracture toughness | Choc resistant | High bending strength
Upryze is a composite of co doped zirconia, alumina and different reinforcement elements. It was initally developped and patented by Saint Gobain, and Nanoe acquired an exclusive licence in 2024. This material is a high tenacity ceramic, with a fracture toughness of 14MPa.m1/2, when a standard zirconia usually has a fracture toughness of 6MPa.m1/2. This allows Upryze to withstand much higher level of chocs that any other technical ceramic.
Upryze is a composite of 85% Ceria and Yttria co doped zirconia, 15% Alumina and a few specific dopants. This composition, issued from Saint Gobain research center, allow this exceptional fracture thoughness, while retaining a good hardness and flexural strength. As any ATZ and ZTA, it is also very wear resistant.
In order to better respond to your needs, Nanoe delivers it’s zirconia under the shape best fitted for your process. We are able to provide our products as granules ready to press, redispersible powder or even as a feedstock for ceramic injection. Nanoe is also capable of adjusting the material to best fit your demands and constraints ; e.g. adding a special doping agent in its composition.
